Stationary Joystick

As impossible as it might seem, here is another episode of Stationary Joystick, only a week after the last one was put out! Originally this episode was going to be fueled by rage a la Twinkie Beyond, but I calmed down before I started casting. I still talk about what made me angry, but in a more sedated manner. Other topics and tangents include the David Cronenberg movie “Scanners” and what happens to friendship when everyone lives in different parts of the state.

P.S. – At the end of the episode, I attempted to list off and thank everyone who listens to this podcast, but evidently I forgot Simon of The Wondercast. Forgiveness please!

For some reason, right before I was going turn in for the evening, I got the urge to podcast. Almost like a need to podcast, if for nothing else than to feel some catharsis. I think it’s a decent episode (by this podcast’s standards, anyway). I talk a lot about the pressure to succeed and meet/exceed expectations, and I go off on a few random tangents about dorm life and Chinese films as well.

Just when you thought Stationary Joystick had podfaded into the halls of obscurity, I return with a quick episode! Maybe I can actually get motivated to do this on a [semi] regular basis again. On this episode, I talked about:

• Gagliano’s Market goes out of business! I drop a class!
• My love-hate relationship with psychology.
• Staff Training: “Welcome To Hell Week, Bitch.”
• The Beijing Olympics, and then, the Olympics in general.
• Trips to Baltimore, Maryland and the Mall of America.

This was completely off the cuff, so I apologize if it’s crappier than usual. Still, it only took a half hour to do, which is more efficient than usual. Perhaps I’ll have to record this way more often…

Stationary Joystick returns after three weeks of absense (due to laziness)! This episode should have been a kickass driving episode (note the reference in the episode’s title to one of the first Twinkie Beyond episodes), but the sound was crappy and muffled for a still unknown reason, so I return with another episode recorded in the bedroom. Nothing interesting or important has happened since the last episode, so instead I talk about:

• Stuff I’ve been wasting my money on. In particular, a vanishing coin bank and a “will return” novelty clock.
• Shoutouts to Twinkie Beyond and the Experimental Life Wondercast.
• Things I should be working on while I have time during the summer, but probably won’t.
• A short movie review of “Doomsday”. Wait a minute, I saw “The Dark Knight” too! Why the hell didn’t I talk about that!?
• I complain about people not using Twitter enough. Hit me up!

So while this probably wasn’t as interesting as the actual driving episode, it’s still not that bad (I don’t think). I might try cleaning up the audio of the driving episode to see if I can extract at least a few bits to compile together for another short episode. That will probably be a while though, because procrastination is what the cool kids are doing.

This mess of a Stationary Joystick episode is what happens when you podcast to fill your quota (and really, a podcast “quota” is strange because most people podcast as a hobby and don’t need to fill a quota). Well, for better or for worse, here it is. Some things [crappily] covered in this episode:

• Vocaloid, the inexplicable fascination of every anime nerd. Seamless segue™ into a plug for Synthesia, formally known as Piano Hero.
• Madison, Wisconsin. Specifically, the Henry Vilas Zoo and State Street (also known as “tear gas alley” once a year).

• Beijing Summer Olympics 2008. Or Something.
• Wow, this episode is bad. I even say that within the episode!

So, it’s obvious that I didn’t like this episode, but as always, your milage may very. This episode is 45 minutes long, and I bet at least 1/3 of that is comprised of the words “um” and “uh”.

Welcome to the reincarnation of Stationary Joystick. Hopefully this time it will go somewhere and not just die after two episodes like the original did. I will warn you in advance: This is a terrible podcast. This episode was recorded in my bedroom while I was sitting on my bed and surfing the internet. There’s a lot of pauses, “ums” and “uhs”, and weird timbre changes in my voice resulting from me moving around while talking. Still, I’m posting it up in hopes it will keep me motivated to keep putting out episodes. Here are some topics I covered:
